Teens quizzed on shop murder

-

TWO more teenagers have been arrested over the murder of a shopkeeper who refused to sell cigarette papers to three boys.

Vijay Patel, 49, died after he was assaulted at his convenience store when he clashed with youths.

A 16-year-old was arrested shortly after the attack at the Rota Express, Mill Hill, north London, on Saturday.

He was charged with murder and appeared in court on Wednesday as Scotland Yard released CCTV images of two other boys they wished to trace. Hours later, two youths aged 15 and 16 were arrested. They were held on suspicion of violent disorder, the Yard said yesterday.

Mr Patel died in hospital on Sunday from a head injury he suffered during the attack. It is understood he and his wife Pribha moved to London from Gujarat in India 11 years ago.

The shopkeeper, who lived in Colindale, north London, was described as an “inspiration” by his family. Mrs Patel was visiting relatives in India, when news of the attack was broken to her.
