It’s time to Leave... for lunch

- By Alison Little

MILLIONAIRE Leave.EU co-founder Arron Banks and his aide Andy Wigmore snubbed MPs yesterday as they were quizzed over alleged links with Russia.

After a tense three hours the pair curtailed the Commons’ Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee hearing – announcing they had a lunch appointment.

Urged to stay for another five minutes, Mr Banks stood and told a startled-looking chairman Damian Collins: “The word is no. I don’t mean to be rude but we’ve got places to be. I’m afraid it’s time to go.”

Earlier Mr Banks told MPs he had no business interests in Russia, did not accept Russian money for the EU referendum campaign and had briefed US security services.
