JAVID: NO FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT POST-BREXIT

-

HOME Secretary Sajid Javid yesterday confirmed there will be a “complete, total end to freedom of movement” after Britain leaves the EU.

EU migrants will need “leave” to enter the UK under post-Brexit immigration rules, Mr Javid told MPs.

He said European nationals would not have an automatic right to work in the UK. And the Government will negotiate with Brussels over whether highly skilled workers such as doctors and scientists will need a visa to work in Britain after 2020.

The Home Secretary told the Home Affairs Select Committee: “Freedom of movement as we understand it today will end.

“There will be no version of that, no derivative of that, no back-door version of freedom of movement.”

The Home Office last month unveiled plans for EU nationals already living in Britain.

But the Government is yet to set out its post-Brexit immigration vision.
