Oh deer! Camilla misses the big day

Daily Express - - NEWS - By Richard Palmer

THE Duchess of Cornwall was 530 miles away visiting schoolchildren – and their classroom exhibition of stuffed wildlife.

Camilla’s two official royal engagements were near her Birkhall home on the Balmoral estate in Scotland. But friends of the Duchess insisted there was no rift.

They said Camilla had promised to attend two engagements involving schoolchildren in Crathie and Braemar and had not wanted to let down the schools or pupils.

A friend of the couple said: “The Duchess explained to Princess Eugenie that she wanted to honour the engagements she had committed to and Eugenie was fine about it.”

Camilla, 71, is also hosting house guests ahead of a dance, a Ghillies’ Ball tonight.

The Queen’s cousin Princess Alexandra, 81, pulled out on doctors’ advice after surgery on a broken arm.
