Friends out in force for Jennifer’s 50th

- By Chris Jewers

George and Amal Clooney were among stars at the party. Inset, birthday girl Jennifer Aniston Gwyneth Paltrow in sequins and, right, Barbra Streisand in satin added glamour to the night IT may be the middle of awards season but for Hollywood A-listers there was only one place to be at the weekend. Stars of film, TV and music flocked to Los Angeles to celebrate with Friends star Jennifer Aniston, who turns 50 today.

Guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, George and Amal Clooney, Reese Witherspoon and Barbra Streisand. Robert Downey Junior, Rolling Stone Keith Richards, singer Katy Perry and boyfriend Orlando Bloom were also on the star-studded guestlist. Jannifer’s ex-husband Brad Pitt also made it to the swanky event at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood. Jennifer and Pitt married in 2000 but divorced in 2005 after he left her for his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. Pitt tried to avoid attention as he entered the hotel, donning a cap and sporting slicked-back hair in an attempt to remain incognito.

He is rumoured to be in a relationship with another Hollywood superstar, South African Charlize Theron.

But his appearance suggests that he and Jennifer are getting on well. Another former partner of Jennifer’s, actor John Mayer, also turned up at her bash. But absent was her other former husband, actor Justin Theroux, who she split from in 2017. Jennifer looked relaxed and happy as she was feted by her famous friends, as well as her actor dad John Aniston. Celebrities who turned heads included Amal in a deep pink velvet mini-dress with spaghetti straps. Veteran star Streisand looked stylish in a purple satin jacket and hat, while Paltrow, who dated Pitt in the 1990s, went all out in a silver sequinned Attico dress with a blue velvet sash.
