First flurry of snow creates a winter wonderland
THE first snows of the English winter dust the peaks and troughs of the Pennines yesterday.
Carrshield, near Hexham in Northumberland, makes a picturesque if chilly scene.
Having already hit the Highlands, winter surged on southwards with flurries in the Peak District before the light snow was washed away.
Netweather forecasts heavier bursts of snow in Scotland and the North today and light snow is predicted as far south as Cornwall.
