Strictly Come Dancing

6.30PM, BBC1 With The Great British Bake Off moving to Channel 4, Strictly is now the jewel in the BBC’s crown. And how about this for an idea? A new spin-off series, hosted by Mel and Sue, in which the celebrity dancers have to bake a cake! Strictly Come Baking, anyone? You read it here first. Last night saw the show kicking off in spectacular fashion, with the first six couples taking to the floor; tonight, Tess Daly (right) welcomes the remaining nine celebrities. There’s no eviction this time, but the judges’ scores will be carried over to next week for the first elimination.

Walking Through Time

8PM, CH4 Palaeontologist Dr Tori Herridge presents a new, three-part series exploring exciting subjects from Britain’s dark and distant past. Her first case takes her to northwest Scotland’s beautiful coastline, where telltale signs in its craggy cliffs reveal that an extraterrestrial object landed there 1.2 billion years ago.

Casualty

8.50PM, BBC1 Tonight’s episode balances moments of levity with high drama when Charlie attends a school reunion, and comes face to face with old crush Gloria and former bully Allan, who’s now Gloria’s husband. Surely, the men will get on after all these years? David, meanwhile, has to save his son from a dangerous situation.

8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown

9PM, CH4 At first, this combination of two Channel 4 shows sounded rather odd; in fact, it works rather well. Jimmy Carr is your host for a one-off episode, with guest captain David Walliams and Jonathan Ross up against Jon Richardson and Joe Lycett. As usual, Rachel Riley is on letters duty.
