My Brain And Me
In 2013, at the age of 53, the political broadcaster Andrew Marr had a stroke that nearly killed him. Although he survived, his movement is still limited, particularly down the left side, and he admits that life for him now is tricky. ‘ There is an area in my brain, probably the size of a small tomato, that simply doesn’t exist,’ he reveals. And so now, in this powerful and very personal one- off documentary, Andrew reveals his gruelling story of recovery and takes an in- depth look at that most complex of organs: our brains. He also meets some of the million-plus stroke survivors in the UK and travels to America to see if a radical new treatment will help to improve his movement. Tuesday, 9pm, BBC2.
