Great news for Grantchester fans. Robson Green, who plays detective Geordie Keating, says, ‘I met ITV’s Director of Television Kevin Lygo recently and he’s very positive about the show’s future.’ The show was thought to be in doubt because James Norton, who plays vicar Sidney Chambers, is busy on other projects.

Dame Eileen Atkins ended up dusted with cremation ashes while filming Doc Martin – but luckily they were fake. Dame Eileen, whose character Ruth scatters ashes in the new series, says, ‘The director was showing me how to do it, and covered me from head to toe in them.’

The creator of comedy show Taskmaster – which starred Bake Off’s Noel Fielding (right) – is working on a brand new project. Alex Horne’s latest show, The Percentage Game, will see panellists reveal fascinating and fun facts. ‘Alex is very well connected and great at devising game shows,’ says a source. ‘This could well be another hit.’

The hilarious memoir of a junior doctor is to be dramatised for television. Recently published This Is Going To Hurt, by comedian Adam Kay, is about his six years working for the NHS. An insider reveals, ‘Adam has written comedy for Mitchell and Webb so he’ll be writing this series himself. Expect to see it on one of the major stations.’
