MONTY’S PLANT OF THE WEEK

-

CYCLAMEN DAFFODIL

Narcissus cyclamineus)

One of the first daffodils to come into bloom, N. cyclamineus has a trumpet hanging down at an acute angle to the stem and petals bent far back like wings. It’s small – usually 6in tall – and has a delicacy and prettiness that make it perfect for growing in pots or tucked away in a special corner. Although it can be planted in full sun, it does best in slightly more shaded, cooler conditions with moist soil. All daffodil leaves should be left uncut for at least six weeks after flowering has finished, or it will produce fewer blooms the following spring.
