The Winslow Boy

David Mamet both adapts and di­rects this ver­sion of Ter­ence Rat­ti­gan’s play. Nigel Hawthorne is the up­per-class fa­ther who de­fends the hon­our of his youngest son, at all costs. It’s a canny swipe at the Bri­tish Es­tab­lish­ment, with Jeremy Northam as the bar­ris­ter fight­ing the fam­ily’s cor­ner.

Dis­ney’s life-af­firm­ing sin­ga­long hit is full of warmth and charm. In a re­jig of fairy­tale The Snow Queen, lonely princess Elsa is blessed and cursed with the power to cre­ate snow and ice. To the res­cue comes her sis­ter, Anna, who sets out to free Elsa and their king­dom from an eter­nal win­ter.

The Ex­pend­ables

The Ex­pend­ables have made them­selves in­dis­pens­able at the box of­fice, and the fran­chise now stretches to three films (and count­ing). Sylvester Stal­lone (who also di­rected and co-wrote this first ad­ven­ture) heads up a team of merce­nar­ies who prove the value of age and ex­pe­ri­ence.
