More sightings of Madeleine 50 days on
SEVERAL leads emerged in the search for Madeleine McCann yesterday as her parents marked the 50th day since her disappearance.
Workers at Geneva Airport reported two separate sightings of a child resembling four-year-old Madeleine with a blonde woman in her 50s.
Fifty police officers searched the terminal, and pilots were ordered to check all children on flights but the woman and child could not be found.
In Malta police intensified their search for Madeleine last night after four separate, apparently credible sightings of her on the island – some by British tourists.
Maltese police spokesman Mario Spiteri said: ‘We are taking these reports very seriously and are doing everything in our power to follow them up.
‘This case has top priority and all the island’s police are on high alert.’
Yesterday Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann were back in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz, from where their daughter was snatched on May 3.
They released 50 balloons with Madeleine’s picture on them – one for each day she has been missing. ‘The balloons are to remind everyone that, 50 days on, Madeleine is still missing and in three months, if she is still missing, we’ll still be looking for her,’ her father said.
‘We know that people are looking for Madeleine, that’s all that we are asking.’
