Reflection ready to muscle in on Sprint

- By MARCUS TOWNEND Racing Correspondent

TRAINER Karl Burke is confident that favourite Quiet Reflection goes into Saturday’s 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock in perfect shape after recovering from a muscle problem. The winner of Royal Ascot’s Commonwealth Cup, ridden by Dougie Costello, is 9-4 favourite to land her second Group One prize of the season, having finished third in the July Cup on her latest outing. Burke said: ‘She had two easy weeks after Newmarket and she put on 15 kilos in that time. She looks fantastic. ‘She then picked up a little muscle injury, which frustrated us for a couple of weeks about a month ago. We wouldn’t have wanted it to drag on any longer than it did but I think we are fine. ‘Her last two or three pieces of work have been very good.’ Burke is planning two more races this season for her, with the Sprint on British Champions day on October 15 also pencilled in. Quiet Reflection will stay in training next year when Burke is planning an international programme that could kick off in Dubai. Meanwhile, Franny Norton will ride Andrew Balding-trained Dancing Star in Saturday’s race. He replaces the Stewards’ Cup winner’s regular jockey, David Probert, who has a broken wrist.
