Jack must use this to get back on track

- JAMIE REDKNAPP

THERE have been some seriously eye-catching deals in this transfer window but there’s no way I’d have believed you if you’d told me Jack Wilshere would be at Bournemouth by the end of it! That’s not to say it isn’t a good move though, for the player and the club. Wilshere has completed 90 minutes just once in the league since the start of 2014-15 and his injury record is frightening. In that sense it’s a gamble for Eddie Howe but if Wilshere plays he will guarantee their safety. I said he is at a crossroads in his career and this is the perfect opportunity to get it back on track. There is a lack of pressure on him at Arsenal, where he is a fans’ favourite and there’s no burden on him to play if he’s injured, given how many fantastic midfielders they have. He needs to step out of his comfort zone and put his body under pressure and Bournemouth is the perfect place to do it — he can be reborn there. They play good football and, while the pressure will be on, it will be the good kind. The fans are a nice bunch and when they had wooden seats the worst they would do is throw cushions at you! Pep Guardiola once said Wilshere is lucky because there are many like him in Barcelona’s academy. This move gives Jack the chance to prove he is one of a kind.
