Jargon stops youngsters going for jobs
YOUNGSTERS are put off applying for jobs due to impenetrable jargon, a study found.
Research showed that two in three 16-to-24-year-olds failed to understand potential roles due to confusing terms such as SLA (service level agreement) and KPI (key performance indicator).
Grace Mehanna, campaign director for the Talent and Skills team at Business in the Community – which carried out the study with City & Guilds – said: ‘Understanding jargon is not a measure of a young person’s potential – or an indication that they are a better candidate. ’
