Knife arrest outside Buckingham Palace

A MAN with a knife was arrested by armed police outside Buckingham Palace yesterday.

At least eight officers surrounded the man, above, by St James’s Park yesterday morning, just after the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were driven from the palace to St Paul’s Cathedral. Police said the incident is not thought to be terror-related.

Gary Penglis, 49, visiting from Sydney with partner Jan, saw officers make a gesture to show the size of the knife found, right.

‘About five officers were holding him down … It was clear it was something quite serious.’
