Julianne, a New York restaurant critic, receives a call from a lifelong friend, Michael, who is getting married. She suddenly realises she is in love with him and heads to Chicago intent on sabotaging the wedding. She tries everything she can to dissuade Michael from his path, including an attempt to make him jealous using her handsome gay friend, George. The future bride asks her to be her Maid of Honour, which puts her in an awkward position, but she uses it to further drive the couple apart. On the day of the wedding Michael and his would-be spouse are no longer speaking. Julianne realises the error of her ways, that her friend and his bride really are in love, and does what she can to reconcile the situation. The ceremony looms and Julianne is about to lose her childhood sweetheart. Can she come to terms with it? Suddenly, George appears beside her...
