I’m a size 12 ... so why can I barely squeeze into this size 16 in H&M?

WHEN Lowri Byrne tried on a dress that was two sizes too big, it should have swamped her frame.

But the 22-year-old, who is a size 12, found she could ‘ barely breathe’ in the size 16 dress from H&M. And when she asked for the next size up, they did not stock it.

The student from Swansea has now blasted the Swedish brand on social media, telling them they ‘need to seriously sort out sizing’.

Posting photos of herself wearing the dress on H&M’s Facebook page, she said the fit was ‘absolutely ridiculous’ and that if she hadn’t realised their sizes were off, she would been have ‘devastated’ to think she was too big.

Her post received thousands of likes, with many women criticising H&M’s ‘ridiculous sizing’. Tanya Spence-Kelly wrote: ‘I’m a size 10 and have to buy 16/18 in H&M!’ Kayleigh Goodall said: ‘It’s a big problem. It could have awful effects on some girls’ confidence.’

Last June size 14 student Ruth Clemens criticised H&M after struggling to fit into size 16 jeans.

H&M said: ‘As there is no global sizing standard, sizes will differ between brands and markets. H&M sizes are continually reviewed.’
