Anti-semitic trolls turn on his interviewer

Daily Mail - - Election 2017 -

LABOUR was caught in a fresh anti-semitism row after supporters trolled a Jewish journalist who caught Jeremy Corbyn out on his figures.

Emma Barnett was branded a ‘Zionist’ and compared to Miss Piggy yesterday as Labour tried to launch itself as a ‘party of equality’.

After taking Mr Corbyn to task over his failure to provide a cost for his childcare policy, Miss Barnett was besieged on Twitter. The award- winning BBC journalist was branded a ‘Zionist shill’ and had her family attacked. One Twitter user accused her of being a ‘Zionist Torygraph writer’. He also compared her to Miss Piggy, posting a picture of the character with the message ‘@Emmabarnett looking pleased with herself after asking Corbyn questions.’

Another troll, who described herself as a Labour member, accused Miss Barnett of writ-

ing ‘Zionist drivel’. Speaking at the launch of Labour’s race and faith manifesto in Watford, Hertfordshire, yesterday, Mr Corbyn was forced to condemn the abuse, saying: ‘It is totally and absolutely completely unacceptable for anyone to throw abuse at anyone else.’

Some 77 per cent of British Jews will back the Tories over Labour in the General Election, a Survation opinion poll suggested yesterday.
