STAND BY FOR FIRST HAKA OF THE TOUR...

THE Blues are due to perform the haka for the first time this morning at the Lions’ second tour game in New Zealand. The Maori warrior dance, which originated from native New Zealanders proclaimin­g their strength before battle, has been used by the All Blacks to intimidate their opposition for generation­s. And Blues coach Tana Umaga has called upon this special haka to increase the sense of grandeur surroundin­g the Lions’ first match against a Super Rugby team. Umaga said: ‘We have an exceptiona­l group of men, who are proud of their cultures and are looking forward to connecting their heritages through a haka.’
