Pickford cancels transfer talks to focus on Euros

- DOMINIC KING

JORDAN PICKFORD has put talks about his future on hold to ensure there are no distractions as he helps England Under 21s conquer Europe this summer. England begin their European Championship campaign in Poland next week against the reigning champions Sweden, and the Sunderland goalkeeper will have a key role to play. Everton head the race for his signature, with it looking inevitable he will leave the Stadium of Light following relegation. But Pickford said: ‘I have spoken to my agent and told him that I just want to concentrate on the Euros and be the best I can be. ‘I’ll see where it takes me. ‘I don’t want to be getting distracted. We have got a chance to win it with the squad we have got. We have got to believe in ourselves. ‘We have come this far, we have to get out of the group first, but we are capable of doing that easily. We won Toulon last year. Everyone was raving about Toulon, so we need to do that again.’
