Activist names mine boss

ACTIVIST investor Elliott has won a victory with packaging executive Ken MacKenzie being named chairman of mining giant BHP Billiton.

The hedge fund has been demanding an overhaul at the company and welcomed the promotion as a ‘constructive step in bringing much-needed change’.

The 53-year-old replaces retiring chairman Jac Nasser from September.
