Carrie Fisher died with heroin, cocaine and ecstasy in her blood

- By Tim Lamden

Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher died after taking a cocktail of cocaine, ecstasy and heroin, a coroner’s report has revealed.

traces were found in the star’s body when she arrived at a Los angeles hospital last year after having a heart attack on a flight from London.

She died four days later on December 27, at the age of 60.

Last Friday, the Los angeles coroner’s office announced that Miss Fisher’s death was caused by sleep apnoea – which causes irregular breathing – and other undetermined factors.

Yesterday the coroner’s full report revealed that cocaine found in her body may have been taken three days before the December 23 flight on which she became ill. toxicology tests also found traces of heroin and ecstasy but it could not be determined when Miss Fisher had taken those drugs.

the coroner’s office concluded that it ‘cannot establish’ to what extent the drugs influenced Miss Fisher’s death, but pointed to a build-up of fatty tissue in her arteries as a contributing factor.

the actress’s brother todd Fisher said he was not surprised that drugs may have contributed to her death.

‘ I would tell you, from my perspective that there’s certainly no news that Carrie did drugs,’ the 59-year- old said. ‘I am not shocked that part of her health was affected by drugs.’

He said that his sister’s heart condition was probably worsened by her smoking habit and the medications she took.

‘If you want to know what killed her, it’s all of it,’ he added. the mother- of- one said she started smoking marijuana at 13, used LSD by 21 and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 24.

In interviews, Miss Fisher spoke publicly about her cocaine and prescription drug addictions. She said taking painkillers such as Percodan helped ‘dial down’ the manic side of her mental illness and was used as a form of selfmedication. ‘Drugs made me feel more normal,’ she said. ‘they contained me.’

In another interview, she revealed that she snorted cocaine on the set of the second Star Wars film, the Empire Strikes Back.

‘Slowly, I realised I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matter,’ she said.

the report by coroner Nani Cholakians also detailed what happened on the flight back from the UK where she had been film- ing the sitcom Catastrophe. She wrote: ‘Her personal assistant reported that the deceased (Fisher) was last awake and normal at the beginning of the flight.

‘throughout the flight, she had multiple apnoeic episodes ... and near the end of a ten-hour flight she was not to be aroused. a few minutes later the deceased vomited profusely then slumped over.’

after a news release on Friday, Miss Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd said she ‘ultimately’ died of drug addiction and mental illness. Miss Fisher’s mother, Hollywood star Debbie reynolds, died of a stroke aged 84 the day after her daughter while she was making funeral arrangements.

Celebrities including Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meg ryan attended a star- studded memorial service in January for the mother and daughter in Beverly Hills.
