Now Lily claims the media radicalised attacker
LILY Allen and JK Rowling have blamed the media for ‘radicalising’ the alleged Finsbury Park attacker.
The pair suggested coverage of Brexit and issues involving Muslims in the past sparked the violence near Finsbury Park mosque.
Miss Allen, 32, who recently claimed the media were suppressing the number of deaths in the Grenfell Tower disaster by reporting only official figures, wrote on Twitter about the man alleged to be behind the attack, saying he had been ‘Radicalised by the British media’.
Harry Potter author Miss Rowling, 51, accused newspapers of ‘victim-blaming’ and added: ‘We need [to] address the reasons why the Finsbury Park terrorist was radicalised.’
ITV news presenter Tom Bradby was criticised as ‘insensitive and inappropriate’ after questioning the Christian community’s response to the attack on Muslims. The 50year-old had posed an ironic question, writing on Twitter: ‘I am sure people will be calling for Christians to deal with the extremists in their midst. Oh... wait. It’s nothing to do with us.’
But among a storm of criticism, one person wrote back: ‘Was [the attacker] a Christian motivated by his faith? So far we only know he was a white non-Muslim motivated by hate.’
