ROONEY BACK IN PRE-SEASON TRAINING EARLY

HIS future may be up in the air but Wayne Rooney has hit the ground running in a bid to be ready for the coming season. Having already been on his summer holidays, the Manchester United striker, 31, has started his fitness and training regime almost four weeks before Jose Mourinho’s side head to the United States for their pre-season tour on July 9. Sportsmail understands he took the decision to start preseason work early before the end of the last campaign. Rooney (left), who has a year left on his deal, wants to be in peak condition before reporting back to United or joining a new club.
