Ray Harwood, who has died aged 90, once saved Prince Charles from serious injury. Harwood was working with Sir Cecil Beaton during the official photoshoot at Buckingham Palace for the Coronation. Charles, aged four, climbed up the steps in the Green Drawing Room, hand stretched out to grasp the very hot 1,000-watt ‘ back lamp’ behind HM. Harwood grabbed him just in time, before he was badly burned.
