Tesco Bank boss quits

tESCO Bank’s controversial boss is stepping down after a hacking scandal which saw £2.5m stolen from 9,000 customers’ accounts.

Benny higgins said yesterday he would quit next February after a decade at the helm, saying it was time for something new.

the four-times married fatherof- six, who was once on Celtic FC’s books, insisted his decision was not linked to the cyber-attack. Brought up in working-class Paisley, near Glasgow, higgins, 56, is well known in City circles for his colourful private life. When he worked at Royal Bank of Scotland, he was accused of running off with his best friend’s wife.

Last May it was revealed that he had spent £18,000 on London taxis in just eight months as he headed to upmarket restaurants and private members’ clubs.
