BRIT WATCH
ANDY MURRAY v FABIO FOGNINI
THE Italian No 1 is extravagantly talented and a great shot-maker who has won three out of his six matches against the world No 1. But on Murray’s favourite court and favourite surface, it is difficult to see him improving that record. Murray will disrupt his rhythm.
PREDICTION: MURRAY WINS IN 3-4 SETS
3RD ON CENTRE COURT
ALJAZ BEDENE v GILLES MULLER
THE Luxemburger is getting on a bit but plays well on grass, as he showed again at Queen’s, and has an excellent left-handed serve. Bedene (right) has enjoyed two good wins and the victory over servebot Ivo Karlovic will stand him in good stead. Probably needs to get ahead early to have a chance.
PREDICTION: MULLER WINS IN 4 SETS
1ST ON COURT No 2 (11.30am)
JO KONTA v MARIA SAKKARI
THE word on the Greek newcomer is that she is an excellent scrapper and an improver, but as someone still outside the top 100 it is difficult to see her upsetting Konta unless the No 6 seed somehow beats herself, or suffers a hangover from her thrilling second-round win.
PREDICTION: KONTA WINS IN TWO SETS
2ND ON COURT No 1
HEATHER WATSON v VICTORIA AZARENKA
WATSON (right) is partial to the big occasion and a real confidence player when she gets on a roll. Azarenka has an impeccable pedigree and can hit deep and hard, but she is still only two tournaments into her comeback after giving birth. It could be close but Azarenka’s greater experience may be the difference. PREDICTION: AZARENKA WINS IN THREE SETS 1ST ON CENTRE COURT (1pm)
