A question of ethics

-

MY DEAR husband suffered a most miserable death from motor neurone disease. He could not speak, walk, turn over in bed or even swallow.

Though he received wonderful support from his doctors and nurses, he declined a feeding tube as this would have prolonged his misery.

I nursed him at home until two days before his death. My husband had absolutely no quality of life and no drug to ease his suffering from this incurable disease.

Charlie gard has a glimmer of hope and should be allowed to take it as he has nothing to lose. I don’t understand how my husband and many others like him are denied euthanasia, but it’s perfectly ‘ethical’ in baby Charlie’s case. Mrs B. PALLEN, London SE17.
