treatment is a real issue for people with multiple sclerosis (MS), according to a report published last week that i helped write. While 80 per cent of MS patients were concerned about disability, a quarter didn’t know that medications are available to prevent the disease progressing. Yet half the healthcare professionals said they didn’t bring this up with patients because they felt awkward talking about the prospect of disability. this delays treatment until a patient’s functioning is already impaired. these conversations must happen sooner.
