Sir Philip’s nemesis quits

-

THE boss of the pensions lifeboat who battled with Sir Philip Green over the black hole in the BHS retirement fund is stepping down.

Alan Rubenstein will quit as chief executive of the Pension Protection Fund early next year having taken the job in 2009. The 60-year-old clashed with Green after BHS collapsed last year with the loss of 11,000 jobs and a £571m black hole in its pension fund. After months of wrangling, Green this year agreed to cough up £363m to plug the hole in the scheme.

Rubenstein, who worked for Lehman Brothers, has also been trying to save the pensions of thousands of British Tata Steel workers.
