Physics mistress’s mile-high tryst with school trip pupil
A PHYSICS teacher has been banned from the classroom after she had sex with a pupil in the aeroplane toilet on the way back from a school trip.
Eleanor Wilson, 28, who was also head of Key Stage 4 at the school, became close to the sixth form student during the trip to the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva.
On the flight home the pair flirted at the back of the plane while looking after another pupil who was unwell.
Giving evidence to a professional conduct panel, the student, known as Pupil A, said he had drunk about five miniature bottles of wine on the flight in the summer of 2015 and that Miss Wilson was also intoxicated.
He said he and Miss Wilson entered the toilet, kissed, engaged in a sex act and had intercourse without using protection.
The academy teacher from South Gloucestershire continued their relationship, texting and meeting up for drinks despite gossip at the school in Bristol.
In September 2015 the headmaster heard rumours about the relationship and quizzed Miss Wilson. She denied any improper behaviour and no further action was taken.
But the relationship came to light seven months later after another pupil threatened to reveal the tryst unless Miss Wilson had sex with him. He sent Miss Wilson a series of emails in March 2016, in which he said he knew about her relationship with Pupil A and would inform the school.
These emails were reported to the school and the police.
The school launched an investigation and Miss Wilson was dismissed in May 2016. She was hauled before the professional conduct panel earlier this month.
At the hearing, the National College for Teaching and Leadership disciplinary panel found Pupil A to be a credible, reliable witness and agreed with his version of events. Miss Wilson was not present but the panel heard she had previously denied the pair kissed or had sex, and claimed they simply ‘hugged on occasion’.
She admitted during the school’s investigation that the pair had met up and exchanged text messages but denied they had drunk alcohol, despite Pupil A showing teachers a receipt for ciders.
But the two-day hearing found her guilty of all but two of the allegations.
Panel chairman Polly O’Malley said: ‘There was evidence that the teacher’s actions were deliberate and continued for a significant length of time despite her understanding that her behaviour was inappropriate.
‘There was no evidence to suggest that the teacher was acting under duress.’ Striking Miss Wilson off from the profession, she added: ‘These behaviours include serious dishonesty and serious sexual misconduct.
‘The panel has found that Miss Wilson engaged in sexual activity with Pupil A on one occasion, including oral sex and sexual intercourse.
‘Additionally the panel has found that Miss Wilson encouraged Pupil A to hide their relationship and lied about it herself when an investigation into the allegations was undertaken by the school.’
The name of the school and the name and age of Pupil A were not revealed at the hearing to protect the student’s identity.
Miss Wilson was reported to police but it was not known last night if any action was taken against her.
