The speech that spared his child

-

Your Honour, can I say something? I’m his father. My son isn’t capable of surviving a jail sentence. He’s learnt his lesson. If he goes to jail he’s not mentally fit to live in this world, never mind mentally fit for jail. Please, please you can’t send him to prison. I don’t think it’s in the public interest to send him to jail. We just need a chance – please. He will never drive again until he is legal. I beg you, he is not mentally able. If he does reoffend, then I can’t say anything like this again. I am sorry for the outburst.
