What a woman with real worries looks like

You wouldn’t want busy world leaders like Angela Merkel and Theresa May to waste their time having facelifts, would you?

So why complain when they have a few days off work and are spotted with jowls, wrinkles, baggy eyes and pasty limbs?

Merkel — seen here in italy this week with her husband — is 63 and has been running germany for over a decade; May is 60 and has been running Britain for just over a year (although it feels like a decade). What do people expect, Pamela ‘plastic’ Anderson?

We get so used to seeing the glossy, photo- shopped faces of older women — Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, Sharon Stone — that we forget what real women with real jobs and real worries look like. And no, it’s not always pretty. But at least it’s honest.
