Foul play at True Telecom

-

A TELECOMS firm exposed by Money Mail for its huge exit fees may have broken sales rules, watchdogs say.

In May, we revealed customers of Kent-based True Telecom were unhappy they had been signed up for three-year contracts and then charged more than £600 to leave.

Now Ofcom says it has ‘reasonable grounds’ to believe True Telecom has broken its rules by transferring customers onto its service without their permission, then selling them on to other firms without their agreement.

The telecoms watchdog also believes it has been selling contracts longer than two years and charging exit fees to leave early. Stuart Griffiths, True Telecom chief executive, says: ‘We’ve been working extremely closely with the ombudsmen and have seen a reduction in any cases raised for dispute resolution.’ l.milner@dailymail.co.uk
