The best friend who became a bodyguard

NAWEED Ali was characterised as the bodyguard of Khobaib Hussain, his best friend who lived next door.

The gym addict, with a stutter and special educational needs, left school with no qualifications having failed his GCSEs.

He went on to Solihull College where he gained a level one NVQ in electrical installation before doing a series of jobs, including working at Burger King. His most recent job, which lasted just two months, was as a quality controller on the production line at Jaguar Landrover from April to June 2015.

Led by Hussain, who he considered a brother, he flew to Pakistan to attend a terrorist training camp in August 2011.

Before his arrest, he spent his days playing console games on a Sony Play Station, watching the US comedy the Big Bang Theory and doing the bidding of Hussain, including setting up the Musketeers chat group for him.
