CLOBBER CATERPILLARS

-

BRASSICAS are at risk from cabbage butterflies and the cabbage moth Mamestra brassicae. Their caterpillars are large, green or brown, and voracious. Control them either by removing the larvae or by crushing the yellow eggs. Or you can spread fine-mesh butterfly netting over the whole crop. Sprays such as Deltamethrin or organically approved Pyrethrum can be used, but do not spray if there are flowering plants nearby, as bees and other valuable pollinators could be harmed.
