Tortoise and the scare ... kiss of life saves pet
A PET owner who found his tortoise drowned at the bottom of his garden pond managed to save her with the kiss of life. John Fletcher, from Gloucester, spotted 45-year-old Freda, who has free rein of the back garden, after hunting around when she went missing on Saturday afternoon. Mr Fletcher said: ‘I took her out and she was looking quite dead and limp.’ He decided to brave giving Freda the kiss of life – and it worked. ‘I detected movement so I warmed her up with a hairdryer, massaged her legs and neck and after an hour she opened her eyes,’ he said. ‘I am so happy she came back to life. It would have been a great loss to me.’
