WILDWOOD KIN: Turning Tides (Silvertone)
THIS Exeter family trio look to Coldplay and Mumford & Sons on a debut that suggests their folk roots are already behind them. The two Key sisters — guitarist Emillie and keyboardist Beth — are joined by their drumming cousin Meghann Loney on songs that veer from the pastoral pop of The Author to the electrified rocking of recent single Run. Lead vocals are shared around, with the trio also combining for some sumptuous, three-part harmonies. ★★★★✩
CHASE AND STATUS: Tribe (Virgin EMI)
THE duo strike a balance between radio-friendly dance and their origins in London’s underground rap and reggae scenes. Quality occasionally dips, but the highlights are bold and energetic. Emeli Sandé echoes her breakthrough single Heaven on Love Me More and there are cameos, too, from Craig David and rapper Kano. ★★★✩✩
