Jukebox listing is music to the ears of rugby club chief

-

THE owner and chairman of Saracens rugby club, Nigel Wray, saw his stake in investment firm YOLO Leaisure and Technology shoot up by £3.3m yesterday after the company soared in value.

YOLO – named after the phrase ‘you only live once’ – rose 65pc after one of its investments, music-streaming service Electric Jukebox, said it would list on the London Stock Exchange next year.

Electric Jukebox, 41pc owned by YOLO and backed by celebrities including Sheryl Crow and Robbie Williams, was also boosted by the launch of its second entertainment device, a karaoke machine called Roxi.

As YOLO’s biggest shareholder with a 23pc stake, 69-year-old Wray ( pictured) – a prolific investor once called Britain’s answer to Warren Buffett – was the biggest winner as investors clambered into the stock. But he was not the only big name in clover – former Leeds United chief executive Chris Akers received £303,000 as his 2.1pc YOLO holding jumped in value. Headed by ecommerce veteran Simon Robinson, YOLO aims to identify and invest in potentially lucrative tech minnows as well as turnaround opportunities at larger firms. It invests in video streaming site Simplestream, TV broadcaster TVPlayer, esports specialist Gfinity, and podcast firm Audioboom.
