Frankie’s flying on Aurelia

- SAM TURNER

LADY AURELIA warmed up for next week’s Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes with a sparkling piece of work at York yesterday. Wesley Ward’s filly was reunited with Frankie Dettori after the Italian missed her Royal Ascot victory through injury. Dettori told Racing UK: ‘She felt great. I haven’t ridden her since last year’s Cheveley Park. Obviously I saw her before Ascot, but I never actually sat on her. ‘She hasn’t overly grown, but she hasn’t lost her speed. This morning, especially with the tailwind, I felt like I was going a million miles an hour.’ Meanwhile, John Gosden’s dual Oaks heroine Enable, winner of last month’s King George at Ascot, will face a maximum of eight rivals in Thursday’s Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Gosden said: ‘Enable is happy and well. We always wanted to go to this race. It was meant to be Irish Oaks to Yorkshire Oaks. She took the Irish Oaks so much in her stride that then the King George came into play.’
