James Milner did well at left back last season but Liverpool needed a specialist there. Robertson gave Liverpool balance against Crystal Palace. He offers another option down the left and his delivery was superb. If Philippe Coutinho stays, Robertson will let him cut inside and shoot more frequently. There will be greater tests of his defensive capabilities but he will prove a very astute signing.
