SALES SLIDE AT TIFFANY AS SPARKLE FADES AWAY
A SURGE in tourists buying Tiffany jewellery in London due to the fall in the pound has eased off – but it still sold £90m worth of jewels across Europe this spring and summer.
The luxury jeweller said it was no longer hit by anti-Trump protesters opposite its flagship New York store, as it posted global sales of £749m.
Still, that was a 1pc fall on a like-for-like basis, with Japan the only place where sales grew, up 3pc in the second quarter. Bosses are pinning their hopes on ex-Bulgari executive Alessandro Bogliolo’s revamp when he starts as new chief executive in October.
