Rossi suffers double leg break in training

-

VALENTINO ROSSI, the nine-world champion, had ‘a successful operation’ yesterday after suffering a double fracture to his right leg in a motocross training accident in Italy. The 38-year-old Movistar Yamaha rider said on his team’s website: ‘I’m very sorry for the incident. Now I want to be back on my bike as soon as possible. I will do my best to make it happen.’ Doctors have said he will need to rest ‘for 30 to 40 days’. Rossi (right), who broke the same leg in 2010 during a crash in practice, injured his chest and stomach in a motocross accident in May. He is currently fourth in the MotoGP standings with six rounds left, 26 points behind leader Andrea Dovizioso.
