Woodford pumps £4m in to fund firm

-

STAR fund manager Neil Woodford has poured another £4m into crowd-funding firm Seedrs.

The investment, made through Woodford Investment Management, brings his total funding for the platform to £10m following a £6m cash injection back in 2015.

The move comes after Woodford lost £326m on doorstep lender Provident Financial following a share slump. The firm had revealed huge problems with its collections business, and the boss was ousted.

It’s a record single investment for any crowdfunding platform.

It values Seedrs at £40m, which marks a 27.2pc increase since its last funding round in the middle of 2015, and it is 136pc higher than its share price in late 2013.

Seedrs chief executive Jeff Kelisky said: ‘The capital we are raising will allow us to deliver our next stage of growth.’
