Ban over-45s from Strictly says Joan, 84

Daily Mail - - News -

CELEBRITIES over the age of 45 should never do Strictly Come Dancing, says Dame Joan Collins.

The 84- year- old actress, pictured, said she knows two people who took part in similar shows and both suffered injuries. Asked if she would do Strictly, she told ITV’s Lorraine programme: ‘No, I wouldn’t, I think there’s a limit. Nobody over 45 should do anything like that. They really shouldn’t, because I have two friends who have done it.

‘One is George Hamilton, he did the American one, and he is still limping.’

In 2006 the US actor, then 66, competed in ABC’s Dancing with the Stars with professional Edyta Sliwinska and they lasted until the sixth round. ‘He said ‘‘don’t do it, it’s ridiculous, it’s not just the dancing, it’s the acrobatics”. But I love the show.’

Strictly returns on Saturday, September 23. Traditionally the first live shows are split between two episodes on a Friday and Saturday night.

This year, however, the two episodes have been combined.
