Lighting up Paris fashion ... it’s Ellie and Kylie
WITH dresses that look like ageing lampshades, tin foil skirts and garish clogs, you’d be forgiven for thinking you had walked into a charity shop – not the world’s fashion capital.
But designers at Paris Fashion Week were determined to show off some unique styles, including a pair of Crocs re-engineered as Eighties-style platforms.
Kylie Minogue led the pack when it came to outlandish styles, wearing a peach fringe dress that some said resembled a lampshade. The singer, 49, twirled on the red carpet, revealing the dress’s long tassles.
She was followed by pop star Ellie Goulding, 30, who wore a metallic miniskirt and daringly see-through red top.
Fashion house Balenciaga used its show to debut controversial platform Crocs. The notoriously unfashionable sandals, in a range of bright colours, were adorned with cartoon-style badges.
Unsurprisingly, fashion fans were divided, with some calling them ‘horrendous’. Stylist Victoria Martin said: ‘Stop trying to make ugly shoes cool!’
But another wrote online: ‘My birthday is in 28 days and all I want is some money and those Balenciaga Platform Crocs.’
