SINGER Ashleigh Wood does not normally suffer from stage fright, but admits it could be different when she tees off in the showpiece finals of the Daily Mail Foursomes with Morecambe clubmate lynne Perry next week. the lancashire duo are one of the last 16 men’s and women’s pairs, who will be taking centre stage at the Marriott st Pierre, when they battle it out to lift the trophies in the world’s largest golf competition. When Wood, 25, is not playing golf, she is singing and has performed alongside famous tenor russell Watson. she said: ‘i do get nervous for golf. i don’t for singing. With golf i have to take a paracetamol to calm me down. ‘there will be nerves at the finals, but hopefully we can control them. We’re going to give it our best shot. ‘We would like to win. We know now from the seven rounds we’ve done, it’s anyone’s game. i just don’t want to get knocked out in the first game.’ they sealed their spot at Chepstow after overcoming a shaky start at Heswall to beat alka tank and Barbara Jamieson 3&2. the round of 16 and last eight will be played on Monday, with the semi-finals and finals the following day.
