Arsenal open to offers for Ozil

- By SAMI MOKBEL

ARSENAL are set to listen to offers for Mesut Ozil in January to avoid losing him for nothing. The development opens the door for Inter Milan to move for the Germany midfielder during the January transfer window after club chief Erick Thohir admitted the Italians were ‘definitely’ interested in the playmaker. Ozil will have just six months on his contract when the transfer window re-opens and with no resolution over an extension in sight, the midfielder’s future will be an issue. The former Real Madrid player is on the sidelines with a minor knee injury, but the Gunners have performed well without Ozil — winning four out of five games in his absence. Ozil is expected to be fit again after the international break, but it remains to be seen whether Wenger hands the 28-year-old an instant return to the starting XI. With Alexis Sanchez almost certain to leave the Emirates on a free transfer at the end of the season, the Gunners are likely to consider offers for Ozil to limit the financial damage caused by the pair leaving for nothing ahead of next season.
