GLEN DHOO (‘dark glen’) on the Isle of Man is great walking country. There are some easy routes that offer lovely views of this remote valley, which is surrounded by steep slopes, and more challenging ones for keen walkers. RAMBLINGS (RADIO 4, 3PM) joins Clare Balding as she continues with her exploration of Manx walks with a visit to Glen Dhoo (pictured) and Ravensdale.
AARON COPLAND’S popular piece Appalachian Spring conjures up the bright liveliness of spring in a beautiful part of America. There’s no reason why it should do that, as Copland wasn’t trying to describe either Appalachia or spring when he wrote the music for dancer Martha Graham. Catherine Bott includes the work in a FULL WORKS CONCERT (CLASSIC FM, 8PM) marking World
Ballet Day, along with Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and Delibes’s Coppelia.

Books and personal letters, however, are a completely different matter. In the fourth part of her weeklong series THE ESSAY: STUFF HAPPENS (RADIO 3, 10.45PM), Joanna Robertson shares her own experiences of decluttering.
